While stories from WWII have always fascinated me, I saw so many parallels between this story and what is happening in Eastern Europe today. I’ve been proud of the Polish people of today for their warm welcome of refugees from Ukraine, but was unaware of the anti-semitism that existed during WWII or the years thereafter. As this true story unfolded in the pages of this book, I found myself vacillating between despair and hope, at what man can do against their fellow man and what man can do for their fellow man. If you can smile thru your tears, this is a story that should be read.
